Expanding the boundaries of hip-hop’s sound while continuing the tradition of substantive and innovative lyricism is Traum Diggs’ carrying card as an artist. Traum Diggs is a self proclaimed “truth seeker” which makes for constant growth in his songwriting and subject matter. Musically, he is just as influenced by Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton and Marvin Gaye as KRS-ONE, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. The result of those influences is a marriage of Traum’s distinct voice and potent lyricism with elements of funk, jazz, psychedelic rock, and world music. This self-acclaimed “confluence of sound” will be the driving force behind Traum Diggs’ debut album, Major Journalism and is evident in his jazz-influenced single, “Sax Fifth Avenue Flow”. “Sax Fifth Ave…” is a return to a forgotten marriage between Jazz and Hip-Hop that was crucial during hip-hop’s “Golden Era” of the late 80s and early 90s when groups like A Tribe Called Quest and Gangstarr became legendary.
