Unbroken, Unshaven – The Budos Band

Staten Island bad boys The Budos Band (@budosband) do it again with “Unbroken, Unshaven”, an instrumental ode to the bearded, as far as we’re concerned.

We’ve featured The Budos Band before because they steadily bring the Bboy Sounds via a large number of influences, including Jazz, Funky, Soul, Latin and Afrorock, coming together in a very Funky way.

In “Unbroken, Unshaven”, The Budos Band brings together deeply soulful drums and horn arrangements and makes great use of the Funky organ, among other elements.

From the band pic, it looks like these gentlemen might belong in the Beard Club for Men.

From the The Budos Band website:

The sound of The Budos may be challenging for some to describe, but to the band, “Staten Island instrumental afro-soul” means internalizing such seemingly disparate influences as the Cairo Jazz Band, J.C. Davis, Mulatu Astatke, and Black Sabbath and coming together to form a mind-bending combination of rhythm and melody. The unique and signature sound of The Budos has become a favorite for music supervisors to use in TV, film and video games, as well as producers who have sampled The Budos on numerous hip-hop tracks.
