People – Ellipsis

“People” by Ellipsis is a rare Funky Bboy jam from 1976 that has come to light recently by way of Jazzman Records:

Featured on Jazzman Records’ (@jazzmanrecords) Soul Spectrum Records LP, Ellipsis’ “People” is a Jazzy, Funky, and Soulful track that showcases the Funky beat we all love so much, accompanied by Ill horns and an infectious guitar pluck that fits perfectly into the pre-Disco era of the composition.

From an iCrates interview with Gerald Short of Jazzman Records:

Suede Chief

With attention to detail, a keen eye for quality and an obsessive persistence unique to the world’s most passionate record collectors, Gerald Short has built up a formidable label in Jazzman Records. Although Jazzman have been reissuing hard to find jazz and funk records for the last fourteen years, the step into the compilations game with their hugely successful “Spiritual Jazz” series has raised the label’s profile once more. A journey which began in America for the first release has seen British-born Jazzman Gerald dig closer to home, exploring the neglected world of European spiritual jazz. With the third part out this Autumn, Gerald talked us through the music and gave us a glimpse behind the scenes of one of the world’s most valued record labels.

Much love to the folks at iCrates (@icratesmagazine) and to Gerald Short and Jazzman Records, as well as the original artists Ellipses!
