“Superstarr Pt. Zero” by Toronto legend K-os made use of SoHo’s “Hot Music” instrumental jam, gifting the Hip-Hop heads with this Bboy smash…
K-os (@kosinception) fits into the Bboy genre on many occasions, with tracks like “B-boy Stance” and “Elektrik Heat”, plus a large number of innovative Hip-Hop joints pushing the boundaries and getting severely Funky along the way.
Check out K-os thoughts on the MC’s role in Hip-Hop from a 2006 Vancouver Sun interview:
“It’s like you have Thom Yorke, you have Jeff Buckley, you have Frank Sinatra, man. You have people who are singing and crooning, but in hip-hop music, it seems like people aren’t allowed to say, ‘I hurt,’ or, ‘My heart was broken,’ or, ‘I don’t know what to think right now.’
“That’s always been the difference, I think, between a rapper and a poet. A rapper is always sort of telling you, he’s always acting like he knows, whereas a poet is always acting like he doesn’t know.
“I don’t know the answers to all these universal questions, but here’s my experience.”
