Brownout’s “Flaximus” is one of many dope jams from the Texas Funksters, and as usual, Renegades of Jazz takes it straight to the cipher:
Brownout (@brownoutband) has dropped some heavy Funk smashes via Kept Records (@keptrecords) of Canada, and we strongly advise that you visit Kept’s Soundcloud page to check out some more of these.
Classifying their sound as “Hardcore Latin Funk” on their Facebook page, Brownout is one of the dopest Funk bands we’ve heard in a while.
From an OkayPlayer review:
“Flaximus” displays their sound at it’s biggest and boldest, incorporating latin funk and psychedelic elements into a musical answer to the question, What if the Wu-Tang Clan was a marching band?
As usual, Renegades of Jazz (@renegadesofjazz) out of Hamburg, Germany turns up the heat (and the tempo), gifting the Bboys and Bgirls with an ill cipher jam.
You can hear more ill bboy sounds from Renegades of Jazz @ RadioBboy.com’s Jazzy Breaks channel as well.
Some background on Renegades of Jazz from Soundcloud:
Raw and heavy produced music, fusing Jazz with Breakbeat elements, bringing the Jazz back to the dancefloor. Started as an experiment in trying something new, Renegades Of Jazz were instantly signed by UK based producer Smoove to his new label Wass Records. After the huge success of the first 12″ and great feedback from all over the globe, Renegades Of Jazz delivered a full length album summer 2011.
