Dynamo Productions tears up the floor with breaks-o-plenty in “Busta Beat”:
Dynamo Productions has been called a “slice of sample-holic heaven” by Mojo magazine, and we couldn’t agree more, with “Busta Beat” as just one example from the breaktastic duo of the UK’s DJ Andy Smith (@djandysmith) and Scott Hendy (@scottbocakai).
A brief intro to Dynamo Productions from Scott Hendy’s website:
Dynamo Productions is the fusion of beat junkies Andy Smith and Scott Hendy. Andy Smith is better known as Portishead’s DJ and Scott Hendy as Boca 45. As Dynamo Productions they create organic funk and breaks. Their debut album ‘Analogue’ was an album of the week on Triple J,in Australia gained a 5/5 review in Mojo Mag.
Some background on DJ Andy Smith from his Mixcloud page:
Used to DJ with & supply samples for Portishead and even one for The Prodigy (nobody knows that though!). Now into my 50’s R&B, Northern Soul, Ska & Rockabilly but still dig all the tunes I grew up with – Old Hip Hop ,Disco, Boogie, Reggae, Soul, Jazz & some older pop/rock. Run my ‘Jam Up Twist’ nights around the UK (compilation out now on BGP records now). DJ every Saturday at Madame Jo Jos in Soho, London. Sometimes DJ out of the UK but not as much as I used to (as I enjoy my gigs in the UK too much these days!).
And some info on Scott Hendy from his website:
Authenticity is that rarest of components; the most wanted, yet the hardest to come by. The one that can’t be bought. The one that can’t be faked. Bristol’s Scott Hendy has it. Twelve years of hard work, plying his trade, fine-tuning his art have seen to this. A DJ and producer who has remained creative through it all – before Bristol’s musical name meant something, while genres were being created, and after the dust settled – he shows no signs of slowing down. None whatsoever.
