“Da Mystery of Chessboxin” is one of many Bboy-essential tracks from the mighty Wu-Tang Clan, and we’ve been listening to the Clan’s 1st album all weekend, marking 20 years since the release.
This weekend saw the 20-year anniversary of Wu-Tang Clan’s (@wutangclan) first album, “Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers” in 1993, an album that became a Hip-Hop essential that launched a movement and style that could never be copied.
“Chessboxin” features all Clan members but Rza and Gza, and is one of many legendary tracks from the album, and also a dope chessboard-based video.
“Shaolin Jazz – The 37th Chamber,” a seriously ill project from Gerald Watson and DJ 2-Tone Jones (@shaolin_jazz37), contains this refix of the jam:
A majestic medley of lyrics by U-God, Inspectah Deck and Raekwon featuring Method Man and Ol’ Dirty Bastard on the hook, blend with Donald Byrd’s classic, “Lansana’s Priestess”.
And dig this Bboy blend by DJ Fumo (@djfumo):
Much Respect to the Wu-Tang Clan’s Rza, Gza, Ol’ Dirty Bastard (RiP), Inspectah Deck, Raekwon, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Masta Killa.
