DJ Four Eyez is back in a big way with his take on Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive”:
As a veteran of Bboysounds, Kosher Flava Crew‘s Four Eyez has blessed our ears with countless mixtapes, remixes, and original jams from his homebase in Ra’anana, Israel.
A bboy, beatboxer, drummer, singer, producer, and of course a dope DJ, Four Eyez aka Raphael Nathan has a wealth of mixes, remixes, and other creations for you to sample at his Soundcloud, and Like the man on Facebook as well to stay well updated.
This joint brings together elements of Samba, Breaks, Hip-Hop, and much more to take the mainstream hit “Radioactive” to the cipher, not to mention a very generous Free Download!
Here more about the process and what’s good with DJ Four Eyez from the man himself:
This is your first new track in a while, and it’s as dynamic as ever, fusing multiple genres into one dope track. What guided you on this project?
I find myself trying out a lot of different styles and genres when I mix music. Sometimes I start a project and during the process decide that it’s not good enough or I just start over again. “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons is a song that gives me a lot of energy just by the way it’s built and it’s unique melody (even though it’s simple chords).
They have a Live show that I saw. They had this whole build up drumming routine that led to a crazy drop of the chorus and I imagined b-boys going crazy if this song was at a jam and the beat was danceable enough – that’s when the bulb light, you know that bulb that lights up you see in cartoon shows when you get a bright idea. So I started working on it about a month ago, every night I did as much as I could. A good friend of mine, WhiteO (also a Dj), gave me a lot of support with the making in this mix which really helped too.
Your group Kippa Live has been quite popular in Israel. Tell us a bit about the group, and what’s next for you and the boys?
Well, we are a Modern-Accapella band which combine Worldwide music with tradition music. We perform basically everywhere, from weddings to street shows around Israel.
Our biggest and most known performance was on the Israeli X-factor this past November which gave us a good push to reach out to the Israeli population and people worldwide.
We are 8 guys in the group including dancers, musicians and beat boxing. I am the musical director of the group and sometimes the Mixing effect comes into the picture.
You’re married, you’re out of the military. How have these major changes affected you as an artist?
The army gave me the opportunity to fly out when I needed to spin or compete so I’m really grateful for that. When I had free time off the army, I managed my time wisely to do my passions.
[hr]”When I left the army I spent a lot of my time mentoring kids and teenagers at risk through breakdancing and DJing which was a special time in my life.”[hr]
I married Elana in October and started college at the beginning of November… and working for a cool company which imports fine foods from South Africa.
So it has been very busy but at the same time amazing and adventurous.
They key is to fulfill your dreams, wisely. No need to rush anywhere. Dreams don’t run away unless you run them away.
Where can the Bboys and Bgirls expect to see DJ Four Eyez this year?
I’m working on a new mixtape with Dj WhiteO, who has an amazing ear to sound perfection. It’s going to be a crazy mixtape so stay tuned to my official page for updates.
My main focus now is making mixes that no one would dare do. Mixing genres that break the stigma and rules of what we hear on a daily basis.
A lot of my work will be in the lab, at home, working on my music and Mixing skills although I may fly out to Blaze Master Jam (@blazemasterjam) in Greece again, last year was hype!
