Skratch Bastid and Chris Karns took it to the turntables on the Doobie Brother’s classic “Long Train Runnin'” and the track will never be the same:
“Long Train Runnin'” is a classic rock joint from the always-funky Doobie Brothers, a track that still resonates at parties and dance events of any kind, especially with the wealth of reinventions the track has seen in recent decades (some of which you’ll find below…).
The benevolent DJs Skratch Bastid (@skratchbastid) and Chris Karns (@chriskarnsmusic) have also offered the throwdown as a Free Download on Chris Karn’s Soundcloud, so get it like you know.
Skratch Bastid is a Hip-Hop head from Canada who grew up to be an international player, doing 200 shows a year all over Europe and North America, and showing up DJs left and right.
In fact, Skratch Bastid is playing alongside Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest on March 7, so if you’re in or around Toronto, make some plans. If you’re nowhere near, now is a good time to start trekking.

Chris Karns is a supreme DMC champion DJ and producer, working with some of the biggest names in popular music, all the while retaining his role as a true school DJ and turntablist.
