Big up to our Orlando homie and master beatbox specialist Rubox (@rubox) rocking the Bboysounds cassette T-shirt with Southern Smoke MC Niko IS (@nikohigh) and the most legendary Talib Kweli (@talibkweli).
Peep this from Rubox’s blog Rubox the Cube:
On March 9,2014, (Sunday) I had the opportunity to jam with Orlando MC, Niko IS, to open for hiphop artist, Talib Kweli. Talib was in downtown Orlando to do a dj set at the Bullit Bar on Pine Avenue. The Venue was at full capacity. Niko rocked a 20 minute set where I joined him the last 5 minutes.
Talib Kweli got on the mic shortly after Niko IS rocked to say a few words. He mentioned that the last time he was there, people were disappointed because they wanted to hear him get on the mic to perform. So actually rocked a 20 minute set of classic Talib songs. However, 5 minutes in, the speakers blew out. Only the dj monitor was working. He continued to rock it nevertheless. He finished off with“Just to Get By”. He then got on the tables just in time for the sound crew to get the sound system in full capacity.
Another dope night for hiphop in the Ozone.
Btw, you need to visit Rubox’s Soundcloud and Like him on Facebook, and this joint with fellow Orlando Hip-Hop legend Myverse (@iMyverse) of the illustrious Rock Steady Crew is just a fraction of why:
