Benito Turntable’s Bboy mix for the Under Pressure International Graffiti Convention last month in Montreal is as dope as it gets, so prepare to be funked:
Thanks to the homie from Montreal, Canada for the funky mix and the free download as well. As his name should indicate, Benito Turntable is also a connoisseur of the DJ device, and you should definitely peep his blog on the subject.
When we visited Benito Turntable’s Soundcloud page and website, we found a wealth of funky goodness begging for a boombox and a cipher, and here’s one of the mixtapes that really got us in the earhole:
Some background on the man called Benito Turntable, from his website:
Originally from Paris suburbs, Benito met Hip Hop culture in the early 90’s while listening to mixtapes and admiring the graffiti in the abandoned plants in his neighborhood. In 1998 he discovered deejaying during the final of DMC in Paris and quickly acquired turntables. His influences, going from rap to electro through soul and funk, led him to release his first mixtape dedicated to the American Beatmaker J.Rawls, half of the Lone Catalysts group. Then he organized Open Wax parties in Paris with the Natives Songs DJ crew of which he is the founder with his friends Mr Bee and Smockalat. In 2011 Benito moved to Montreal, continuing diggin records and approached the b-boy scene. He regularly plays in break battles and parties with DJs such as DJ Suspect, DJ Fleg, Skeme Richards and many more. He also holds a DJ residence at Adidas store and continues to pursue his passion fully.
And here’s one of the ill videos we found on Benito Turntable’s website for Adidas Originals:
